The Promise of Arminian Theology

This book is a collection of essays to honor F. Leroy Forlines who had a long career as a college professor teaching Bible and theology classes at Welch College. Led by editors Matthew Steven Bracey and W. Jackson Watts, the contributors are Andrew Ball, James Forlines, Jon Forlines, Kevin L. Hester, Matthew McAffee, Edward E. Moody Jr., Phillip T. Morgan, David Outlaw, Jesse F. Owens, Robert E. Picirilli, J. Matthew Pinson, Barry Raper, and Christopher Talbot. The contributors collaborated to celebrate and honor him for foundations he has laid for future generations toward Christian faithfulness. This work explores aspects of Forlines’ work through summary, synthesis, analysis, and critical engagement.

Matthew Steven Bracey teaches at Welch College in Nashville, Tennessee, where he also serves as Registrar and Law and Policy Advisor. He teaches courses in history, law, and theology. He holds degrees from Welch College (B.A.), Beeson Divinity School (M.T.S), and Cumberland School of Law (J.D.). He is a co-founder and Senior Editor of the Helwys Society Forum. He has written a number of popular and scholarly articles. Matthew lives in the Nashville area with his wife, Sarah.

W. Jackson Watts is the pastor of Grace Free Will Baptist Church in the St. Louis metro area, where he has served since 2011. He is a graduate of Welch College (B.A.), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and Duke Divinity School (Th.M.). He is also completing a doctorate in theology and culture at Concordia Seminary. Watts is the author of Biblical Beliefs: Doctrines Believers Should Know, and a co-founder and Senior Editor of the Helwys Society Forum. He serves in denominational leadership roles at both the state and national levels. Jackson and his wife, Mckensie, live in Pevely, Missouri.
